Chemistry is the Chemic’s regular poetry and spoken word event, hosted by Joe Williams. Each event features two headliners – usually renowned and award-winning poets from around the UK – plus an open mic.
Since its debut in July 2022, Chemistry has become one of the liveliest and most popular poetry events in Leeds. Chemistry is a pay-as-you-feel event (and paying nothing is fine) held on the last Friday of the odd months (i.e. January, March, May, July, September and November), starting at 7.15pm.
Each event has an entirely optional (and largely ignored) theme based on elements of the periodic table. Open mic readers have three minutes on stage and are drawn at random from Joe’s Box of Mystery. If you’d like a spot, just let Joe know on the night and he’ll put your name in the box.
