Open Mic Night

Thursdays, 7:30pm

The Chemic Open Mic Night runs every Thursday evening and has been called the best night of its kind in Leeds. It’s held in the pub’s dedicated live music room, so there’s a minimum of noise from the rest of the pub, with no TVs, pool tables or one-armed bandits, just a great sound and light system, a lovingly restored pre-WWI piano, and a respectful and attentive crowd of fellow musicians and music aficionados.

We’re primarily a music night but are also happy to host poetry, comedy, or whatever else you may have to showcase.

Find us from 7.30pm every Thursday in the Chemic’s dedicated live music room

How does it work?

Some of us like to perform early and then enjoy the rest of the night, some of us need a few drinks before we’re ready to get onstage – so when we sign you up at the start of the night, you’ll be asked what rough time you’d like to perform. We’ll then work out the running order for the night in a way that tries to meet everyone’s needs.

Slots are for 10 minutes or 2 songs, whatever is shortest (spoken word or other performers, please keep your performances to an equivalent length).

The pub’s lovely old pre-WWI piano is available should you wish to use it, and host Rob’s acoustic guitar can also be used.

This event is very popular, so please arrive as early as possible if you want to guarantee yourself a chance to perform!
