Flamenco StoriesSaturday 28th

We would like to invite you to an evening of storytelling, music and dance for a special creative project in support of Inkwell.

As a group, we are connected to flamenco and we know that everyone has their own story around flamenco and what it means to them.

For some, it represents strength and passion, an overcoming. For others it has been a way to find solace and community after a bereavement or illness. I have spent the past six months talking to people about this and I have been deeply moved by its impact and the importance of being part of something.

A group of us have come up with a project that shares these ‘flamenco stories’ in photography and calendars. The fundraising evening will be to pay for the design and print of the calendars we will sell to raise money for Leeds Mind.

Designer and Flamenco Dancer, Rachael Stanley will be designing the calendars to reflect the beautiful stories that connect us.

Inkwell has been home to our flamenco gatherings for four years now and funding cuts have meant that GP referrals for their arts projects means they will now be happening elsewhere but we would like to support it as a home for community arts where the inspiring walls always invite reflection.

The fundraising event will be on the 20th of July. There will be performances and some of the beautiful stories will be shared.

We will be organising photography for the calendars on the 1st June during the Jorge Bravo weekend. We would love to hear more stories and get more people involved to share what Flamenco means to them.
